“Infinity: Human Sphere” will be the second book for Infinity, an expansion which enhances and completes the universe, armies and rules of this science-fiction miniatures wargame with its distinctive futuristic manga aesthetics.
Some of the new rules and troop profiles that “Infinity: Human Sphere” will show has been released for free in the monthly updates of the Infinity website: www.infinitythegame.com However, Corvus Belli has kept some surprises hidden for the release of the book.
One of the surprises contained in “Infinity: Human Sphere” are the Sectorial Armies, that we now preview here for you.
In the Infinity universe, the great powers are composed of various national, organizational and sociocultural groups, each with diverse characteristics and interests, who have learned to live and act together.
In game terms, this diversity is reflected in the so-called Sectorial Armies, specific army corps, or small territorial armies, hailing from a given area, region or planet of the faction they belong to.
The Sectorial Armies possess their own Army Lists, with troop Availabilities differing from the General Army of the faction they belong to. Sometimes they have a higher number of certain troops and lack access to other units, which may often be found in another Sectorial Army from the same faction.
The Army Lists of the Sectorial Armies will be completely official and valid for play in any tournament. They may be used in the ITS, Infinity Tournament System, even if the Sectorial Army has Mercenary Troops or units from other factions.
The Sectorial Armies provide an alternative gaming style, expanding the fun of playing Infinity with the possibility of building up themed armies inside each power.
PanOceania has two complete planetary armies. The hyper-technified Neoterran Capitaline Army boasts plenty of elite and “state-of-the-art” troops. On the other hand, the Acontecimento Shock Army is a highly versatile and offensive army with troops specializing in jungle terrain and assault tactics.
Yu Jing possesses the sinister Imperial Service, the military arm of the Emperor and his Judicial System, composed of tactical police units, penal regiments, elite troops and Imperial agents, the personification of the law. In contrast, the Japanese Sectorial Army is an assault army corps, with an ancient warrior tradition governed by the code of Bushido, famous for its technified samurais and invisible Ninjas.
Ariadna concentrates all its rage into the Caledonian Highlander Army, with plenty of savage Scottish and hybrid Human-Antipode warriors creating an overwhelming horde as uncontrollable as it is irrepressible in battle. The Force de Réponse Rapide Merovingienne, is a professional rapid deployment army which has been created to solve crisis situations and is always the first to engage the enemy.
Haqqislam has created the Qapu Khalqi, an army which marries the best units of the Sword of Allah in the Sultanate’s service with mercenary and corsair troops, protecting interstellar commercial ways and the precious Silk Route. Meanwhile, the faith and ideals of Haqqislam are preserved thanks to the terrifying actions of the Hassassin Bahram, the Haqqislamite Military Intelligence service, headed by the shadowy Hassassin Society.
The Nomads have a separate army to protect each of their huge motherships. The Corregidor Jurisdictional Command has been forged in many battles, working not only for the Nomads but also as a mercenary force. The Bakunin Jurisdictional Command takes advantage of the bizarre VaudeVille society and the forbidden sciences developed in the Black Laboratories of Praxis.
The Combined Army is a mix of different alien racial armies under the command of the Evolved Intelligence. The brutal and savage Morat Aggresion Forces never retreat and are capable of razing whole battlefields. However, the perfidious Shasvastii Expeditionary Forces use deception and betrayal to deal the killing blow which finishes any enemy of the EI.
The Sectorial Armies are characterized by a lower range of unit choices, which makes them less versatile compared with General Armies, but, in return, they allow different gaming styles. Moreover, Sectorial Armies are tougher and more resistant, because they are allowed to concentrate certain specialist troops, and have exclusive use of some new rules we are sure they will surprise all players.
Here you have as example the Japanese Sectorial Army list, as will be found in “Infinity: Human Sphere” and also in the free download section of the Infinity website when the book is released.
In this Sectorial Army list the Yu Jing player has the Japanese Light Infantry, followed by the Aragoto bikers and the robotic Karakuri, with the core of the army composed of the armoured and technified samurai. However, the nightmare of any adversary is the variety of Ninja skirmishers available. And in another news highlight for this expansion, the personalities of this army are accompanied by two Mercenary characters, in an army list totally legal for tournaments. Finally, the list includes Remotes, common support troops for the main Yu Jing armies but few in number here due to StateEmpire’s policies regarding its Nipponese citizens.
The Availabilities of the Japanese Army are distinctly different from those of the general Yu Jing Army. This, combined with the Sectorial Armies’ exclusive rules, provides distinct gaming styles for the Yu Jing player to choose from, enhancing the possibilities of fun available with Infinity!
Each Sectorial Army possesses its own identity, some with an aggressive focus while others are more defensive, with Sectorial Armies specialized in close quarter combat while others prefer long range engagements… but all are different from each other. Discover this by playing them! |
